The American singer-songwriter originally released his eleventh studio album on June 20, 1989, via Warner Bros Records. The self-produced album was recorded at his own recording studio, Paisley Park Studio. The album stayed at number one on the Billboard 200 for six consecutive weeks, it was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
